Safety Data Mart for External Users
Our community of users is working together to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries due to crashes in the State of Illinois. A primary goal of the Safety Data Mart is to provide a single source of information that provides easy, direct access to information for all authorized business users. Five criteria for data are addressed: timeliness, completeness, accuracy, accessibility and data integration.

a variety of tools that have been developed for the purpose of Crash Data analysis.

Confidentiality Statement By law, this data, and any attachments or images are intended only for use by the Department and may contain legally privileged and/or confidential information. You are hereby notified that any dissemination, distribution, printing or copying of data any attachments or images, is strictly prohibited.
Here is a summary of the statute: The Department is precluded by law from furnishing copies of crash reports (or any attachments or personal information). Crash reports and investigations conducted by the Department are confidential under Section 11-408 and 11-412 of the Illinois Vehicle Code (625 ILCS 5/11-408 and 11-412). Under these provisions, crash reports are for the confidential use of the Department and state and federal agencies conducting safety studies. Reports by law enforcement officers are confidential under Section 11-408(b), and individual motorist’s reports are confidential under Section 11-412.
