Interstate 64 in East St. Louis to Close in
Both Directions October 8 Weekend
The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that
both directions of I-64 will be closed from west of IL 111 to
the I-64/55/70 split in East St. Louis beginning Friday, October
8, 2010 at 9:00 p.m. until Monday, October 11, 2010 at 5:00
a.m., weather permitting. This interstate closure is necessary
to remove the bridge carrying 15th Street over I-64.
All traffic will be detoured around this area
using I-255 and I-55/70. No westbound I-64 traffic will be
allowed west of IL 111 nor will any eastbound traffic be allowed
east of the I-64/55/70 split. This work is expected to be
completed by 5:00 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010.
The contractor on this project is Keeley & Sons,
Inc. of East St. Louis, Illinois. John Scheibal is the
Supervising Field Engineer for the Illinois Department of
Transportation in this area.
