I-55 at Franklin Connector Project to
Close Ramp to Dan Ryan (I-94) on July 8
SCHAUMBURG-- The ongoing $17.9 million interchange improvement project for the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) at the Franklin Connector in Chicago will next close a major ramp to the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-94).
By the morning rush hour on July 8, the southbound I-55 exit to southbound I-94 will be closed for reconstruction. It will remain closed until October 11.
Traffic will be directed to follow the posted detours. Most vehicles will exit at State Street and travel south to 31st Street to access the Dan Ryan. However, trucks over 12 feet 6 inches must use the ramp to northbound I-94 and turn around at the Canalport Avenue interchange.
Overall, the project will replace seven bridges, reconstruct the pavement on the Franklin Connector from Cermak Road (22nd Street) to the Dan Ryan, and improve highway lighting. It is on schedule for completion by October 31.
