I-57 Resurfacing Project in Will County Enters Stage II on June
17,
Night Work Planned for Next Four Months
SCHAUMBURG-- On the night of June 17, the ongoing project to
resurface a 13-mile section of I-57 through Will County will begin
Stage II construction-four months of night work.
For the past three weeks, work has focused on concrete pavement
patching and has reduced traffic to one lane in each direction from
Steger Road to the Kankakee County Line. The patch work is now
complete and all lanes are to be open by Tuesday morning.
Beginning Tuesday night, and continuing into October, the milling
and resurfacing operations will be underway. Motorists can expect to
encounter nightly lane closures on sections of I-57 in both
directions throughout the project limits.
The lane closures will occur during the overnight period to limit
the impact of construction on traffic. Lanes can be closed beginning
at 8:00 PM weekdays and are to re-open to traffic by 5:00 AM the
next morning. On weekends, the lane closures can remain in place as
late as 9:00 AM.
The $10.5 million project is scheduled for completion by October
10.
