IDOT Seeks Sponsors for Illinois State Highway Map

Sponsorship provides an opportunity to reach statewide and national audience of 3 million

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is seeking sponsors for the Official Highway Map for 2009-2010 in order to offset operational costs and to provide marketing opportunities through a public/private partnership initially established with Best Western Hotels of Illinois, spanning the last four years.

IDOT prints over three million copies of the map every two years and distributes it for free throughout the state. Sponsors allow the state to defray the cost of printing the map and help to boost tourism and economic development in Illinois.

“Sponsorship of IDOT’s Official Highway Map presents a tremendous opportunity for any organization looking to raise its profile with a statewide and even national audience that is on the move,” said IDOT Secretary Milton R. Sees. “The map is an invaluable resource for anyone who needs to get around Illinois, whether for recreation or business.”

During the last 4 years, Best Western Hotels of Illinois sponsored the map and generated $210,000.00 in sponsorship funds to offset the costs of printing the maps.

The map has several marketing opportunities for interested sponsors including its cover, back panel and inside border. The Department encourages smaller businesses to apply as well and reap the rewards of the sponsorship.

Vendors interested in submitting a proposal should go to www.purchase.state.il.us to register and download a copy of the RFP, including submission instructions. For questions about the submission process please call Colleen Caton or Ken Martin at 217-524-3507.
