IDOT unveils new Web site, hotline for Upgrade 74
PEORIA, IL -- The Illinois Department of Transportation has unveiled its Web
site and hotline for Upgrade 74, the rehabilitation of I-74 through Peoria and
East Peoria. The Website (www.upgrade74.com)
and the toll-free hotline (1-866-I74-NEWS) are two ways in which IDOT is helping
the tri-county area stay informed about the project.
The Web site provides the latest information on the construction timeline,
alternative route maps, and even short video clips so motorists can view how
I-74 will look when the project is completed. The site is also interactive
allowing people to submit questions or sign up to receive up-to-date information
via email.
The hotline will also give callers the latest information on Upgrade 74, what
alternative routes to take, and the opportunity to ask questions they have about
the project.
"Throughout Upgrade 74, we want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to
get the latest news about the project," said Joe Crowe, District Engineer for
the Illinois Department of Transportation. "Upgrade74.com and 1-866-I74-NEWS are
two of the many ways we are reaching out to the people we serve."
Upgrade 74 is the complete rehabilitation of I-74 from Pinecrest Drive in
East Peoria to I-474 in Peoria. This three-year, nearly $400 million project is
the largest construction project ever undertaken in downstate Illinois.
