Dixon, Illinois……February 27, 2003……The Illinois Department of Transportation, located in Dixon, announces an update to the public regarding the construction status for roadway improvements underway on I-74 from John Deere Road (IL 5) to Airport Road in Moline which began September 12, 2001.

Beginning Monday, March 3, 2003, North Shore Drive will be closed under I-74. On Wednesday, March 5, 2003, lane restrictions will be put into effect on the westbound lanes of I-74. Lane restrictions on the eastbound lanes will be put into effect on March 10, 2003. Construction activities will require closing 3 ramps at the I-280/I-74 interchange. (See project maps for which ramps are to be closed and alternate routes for the specific ramp closures.) Ramp closures will occur on March 11, 2003. Alternate detour routes will be marked. Traffic on I-74 will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Motorists are reminded to use caution through the construction zone.

Reconstruction of the eastbound lanes is scheduled to be completed by November 21, 2003. Project updates can be found on the project website at www.I74.info. Civil Constructors, Inc. of East Moline, IL is the prime contractor on this $30 million project. Completion of the entire project is scheduled for June 2004.
