COLLINSVILLE, IL, February 24, 2004 -- The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), in cooperation with its Gateway Guide partners, the Missouri Department of Transportation, Metro, and East West Gateway Coordinating Council, have launched live traffic images on Gateway Guide's (St. Louis Intelligent Transportation program) Web site at www.GatewayGuide.com .

Motorists can click on 24 Interstate highway cameras in Illinois to view a “snapshot” image that is updated every two minutes. These live traffic camera images to a public web site are the first of their kind in Illinois .

“We anticipate these live, real-time, camera images will be very helpful for motorists in planning their daily commute. The cameras will complement the 14 existing Missouri camera images provided by MoDOT and the interactive map with real-time construction, maintenance, incident and traffic information on www.GatewayGuide.com . This key feature is another helpful tool to provide motorists with better, more accurate traffic information so they can make more informed decisions during their trip,” said Brian Sneed, ITS Engineer for IDOT.

The cameras are located on I-64, I-55/70, I-270 and I-255 from the Mississippi River to Interstate 255. The detailed locations of the Illinois cameras are as follows:
