Williamson County, Reclamation of the Prosperity Strip Mine, The proposed reclamation project is located on the northwest side of Carterville, and involves the excavation and sealing of a mine portal and three sinkholes, and the excavating and filling of twelve sinkholes. The work includes approximately 52,000 cu yds of earth excavation, the placement of 140 tons of riprap fill, 55 tons of ca fill and 200 sq yds of filter fabric to seal the portal, the installation of three plugs requiring 88 cu yds of concrete, the placement of 340 tons of stone riprap for channel stabilization, the placement of 6,000 sq yds of special excelsior blanket, and 21 acres of seeding and soil amendments.

The Great Central Mining Company Site is located approximately 2 miles northwest of DuQuoin.
