Roadway Weather Information

The Illinois Department of Transportation is providing additional roadway information to motorists to help them during times of inclement weather.

The new site "Roadway Weather Information" can be found on the Department's main web site and also at The site provides weather information from 51 locations on primary and interstate highways across Illinois. The Roadway Weather Information graphic and link to the map can be found on the right side of both web sites.

Upon going to the site the user will see a map of the state with red star indicating locations where the weather information is being collected. Clicking on any of the 51 stars will give the user the location of the sensor and will relay information such as pavement temperatures, air temperature, wind speed and direction, and type of participation. It may be necessary to zoom into an area to reveal a weather site that is partially blocked by an Interstate route shield.
