Advance Work for La Grange Road Reconstruction Project
To Begin January 15
SCHAUMBURG-- The 2003 road construction season gets an early start when
advance work begins in mid-January on the La Grange Road (US 12/20/45)
reconstruction project located in the southwest suburbs.
The $53.1 million project is scheduled to occur over a two-year period.
Advance work will be done during 2003 with major construction planned for 2004.
The project involves the reconstruction of a 4.2-mile section of La
Grange Road from Archer Avenue (IL 171) to the Cal-Sag Channel. Improvements
include complete pavement removal and replacement with the addition of
shoulders, barrier median wall, highway lighting, and more turn lanes at the 95th
Street and 111th Street intersections. Also, the interchange with
Archer Avenue will be rebuilt.
The advance work begins on January 15, weather permitting. Work will be
done throughout the project limits, but will start along the section of La
Grange Road between 87th Street and Archer Avenue. A significant
number of trees will be removed, retaining walls constructed, and drainage
improvements made. Temporary daytime lane closures will be used to perform these
activities generally between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
This project is located near Willow Springs, Hickory Hills, Palos Hills,
and the Cook County Forest Preserve. The contractor is a joint venture between
Lorig Construction and Lindahl Brothers of Des Plaines.
