IDOT Schedules Public Meeting to Discuss I-66 (TransAmerica
Corridor)
CARBONDALE, IL -- The Illinois Department of Transportation will
hold an open house public informational meeting on June 17, 2003
to discuss the study of a new access controlled freeway (Interstate
66) from Paducah, KY to Cape Girardeau, MO.
The public informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, June
17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Shawnee Community College, 8364 College
Road, Ullin, IL. The public is invited to attend at any time during
the meeting hours.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and exchange information
concerning the study of new highway across southern Illinois, and
to receive public input on the proposal.
The TransAmerica Corridor (I-66) is proposed to span the country
from California to Virginia. Exhibits will outline a proposed corridor
through Massac, Pulaski, and Alexander counties and describe the
area under study, according to Tom Zerrusen, IDOT District 9 Engineer.
Written statements will be accepted at the meeting and for 15 days
after the meeting, and will become part of the official record.
