OPEN HOUSE PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING

SCHEDULED BY
ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
FOR THE
IMPROVEMENT OF US 136 FROM THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER BRIDGE TO
EAST OF MAIN ST. IN HAMILTON

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will hold a public informational meeting on the future proposed improvement of US 136 from the Mississippi River Bridge to east of Main St. in Hamilton, IL. The open house will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 6, 2011 in Hamilton Middle School, located at 270 North 10th Street.

The purpose of this open house informational meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to express concerns about past flooding and any other issues within the study area and to suggest possible alternatives that may be considered for the proposed improvement. Exhibits, maps and aerial photography of the proposed project area will be available for inspection and viewing. Interested persons may stop in to learn more about the study, review alternatives, and provide comments. The meeting is an opportunity for citizens to offer feedback as the study team moves ahead. All persons interested in this project are invited to attend. IDOT will also be taking names of people interested in serving on an advisory committee as the study proceeds after this Public Information and prior to presenting the recommended alternative at the future Public Hearing.

The meeting will be conducted on an informal basis; no formal presentation is planned. Representatives of the Illinois Department of Transportation and the consultant engineering firm, Klingner and Associates, will be available anytime from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to answer individual questions and to receive comments about the study. Comment sheets will be available for those in attendance who wish to provide a written statement. Comments received at this meeting or received at the District Six Office by January 20, 2011 will be included in the official project record. The same material will be available for review and inspection at the District Six Office at 126 East Ash Street in Springfield Illinois.

The meeting will be accessible to persons with a disability in compliance with current accessibility standards prepared by the Capital Development Board. Persons with a disability planning to attend and needing special accommodations should contact the person listed in this notice by December 31, 2010. The contact may be by telephone, in writing, by fax or by telecommunications device for the deaf (TDD).
