As thousands of people plan to hit the roadways during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today announced that the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Illinois State Police (ISP), and hundreds of other local police agencies are teaming up to crackdown on drivers who fail to buckle up.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will hold five public meetings on the
long term State Transportation Plan, starting November 13th. The current plan was revised in December 2005. To comply with state law, an updated plan is scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2007. Members of the public will have the opportunity to learn about the State Transportation Plan, and ask questions at each public meeting.
