The Illinois Transportation Research Center
(ITRC) was established in 1991. The ITRC is a
joint Public-Private-University cooperative
transportation research unit underwritten by the
Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)
Office of Planning and Programming. The purpose
of the Center is to direct the research in all
modes of transportation to improve and meet the
present and future mobility needs of the State
of Illinois. Along with IDOT, the following
universities are sponsors of the ITRC:

Northern Illinois University
Northwestern University
Southern Illinois University at Carbondale
