The Illinois Department of Transportation’s celebration of
the 50th Anniversary of the Eisenhower Interstate System was made possible and
greatly enhanced by the involvement of a wide array of individuals, corporations
and organizations possessed with an appreciation of the significant impact the
interstate system has made to society; enhancing the freedom, highway safety and
progress in transportation.
These “Friends of the Interstate” each made a contribution to
the celebration website, activities or events. Some made direct financial
contributions to support the construction of the University of Illinois work of
art “Roadside Conversations.” Others made creative contributions by assisting in
the research, writing and editing of the anniversary celebration materials and
media, including this website.
