Project Description
This project consists of
adding a third lane on I-57 northbound and southbound
from I-24 (mile post 44) to I-64 (mile post 92). Today,
traffic levels average 30,000 vehicles per day and that
level is predicted to grow to 48,000 vehicles per day by
2030. These volumes coupled with the large number of
heavy truck traffic (up to 30% in some sections) will
soon compromise safety and traffic mobility on the
interstate.

costs associated with the project, and how IDOT can
accomplish the work required to get the project
finished. Also included is information of how the
project will support jobs for our community.
