IDOT Participates in Curb Your Car/Bike to Work Week 2011

IDOT had 30 participants in Curb Your Car/Bike to Work Week 2011 that took place from May 16 to May 20, 2011. The purpose of the event was to promote health, reduce fuel consumption and help the environment. The combined miles ridden for the week by the IDOT participants was 1084.9 miles. The same group has logged 3276.3 miles year to date. This translates to saving over 131 gallons of fuel at 25 miles per gallon. The IDOT Office of Sustainable Practices and Office of Communications teamed up to reach out to all IDOT Districts to participate. The riders will be awarded a certificate that is signed by Governor Pat Quinn and Lt. Governor Sheila Simon. Lt. Governor Simon rode with a group of participants in Springfield during the event.
