  Letter from the Secretary

IDOT Mentored Students - SIU - Carbondale

IDOT implements statewide mentoring programs for over 200 high school students. Programs are currently held in Chicago, Springfield and East St. Louis. The goal of the mentoring programs is to provide academic instruction that challenges students and introduces them to realistic engineering projects that encourage teamwork, problem solving and practical application while exposing them to exciting career opportunities in the transportation industry.

For the 2009 – 2010 school year students will utilize curriculum from Destination ImagiNation, INC that is designed to foster teamwork, cooperation and mutual respect. Students will work in teams to complete three (3) challenges in engineering, robotics and structural engineering.

For information on how a school may become involved in the IDOT mentoring programs, please email DOT.Recruitment@dot.il.gov.
