Final Environmental Impact Statement Preparation

The FEIS document has been prepared under the direction of the IDOT district office. Review of the document by IDOT's Central Office and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will be completed in early fall 2004. Comments from the reviewers will be addressed before circulation of the FEIS to those agencies that made substantive comments on the DEIS. The FEIS will also be made available on the project website as well as at the public libraries in Galena , Elizabeth , Stockton , Freeport , and the Illinois State Library in Springfield . The IDOT district office will evaluate all comments on the FEIS and respond to all substantive comments in a final document, the project Record of Decision (ROD). The process of FEIS review and revision, leading to the ROD, is expected to occur by the end of 2004.
