LETTING AND BIDDING

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
AND
"HOW TO" PROCEDURES


 

  • How to find jobs related to your business:
     

1.   Navigate to the Letting and Bidding Information page, located at: http://www.dot.il.gov/desenv/delett.html

2.   Click on the Letting link of your choice.

3.   Click on the “Notice of Letting” link on the letting page.

4.   Click on “Item Descriptions,” which can be found centered in a boxed area filled with links toward the bottom of the Notice of Letting page.

5.   Under the “Edit” option on your menu bar in Adobe, click on “Search”

6.   Type in the word or phrase you would like to search for.

For example, if you want to find a job dealing with landscaping, type “Seeding” or “Tree” in the search field.

      7.   Click on “Search”

8.   Click on any link in the “Results:” field box to view the available material or page dealing with your search.

9.   Click on the “New Search” button located above the “Results:” field box to proceed with a new search.

10. If wanting to complete a new search, follow through with above steps 6-8.

 

  • If you want to save the Item Descriptions PDF to your computer:

 

  1. Right click on the “Item Descriptions” link on the Notice of Letting page.
     
  2. Click on the “Save Target As…” option.
     
  3. Click on the down arrow after “Save in:” at the top of the “Save As” pop-up window.
     
  4. Click on “Local Disk (C:)” in the drop down menu.
     
  5. Double click on the folder where you want to save the file.
     
  6. It is suggested that you create a new folder (i.e. IDOT) for the file you are about to download. To create a new folder, click on the “Create New Folder” ICON to the right of the “Save in:” drop down menu. A new folder will appear that is highlighted so that you can type in the name.  After you type in the name, press enter two times.
     
  7. In the folder pop-up window, click on the “Save” button.
     
  8. A download window will pop-up and will show you when the download is complete.
     
  9. When the download is complete, click on “Open Folder”
     
  10. Double click on the PDF document in the folder to open and view.
