Supplemental Final Environmental Impact Statement
and Section 4(f) Evaluation
December, 2000
The Supplemental Final Environmental Impact Statement
and Section 4(f) Evaluation (1996 FEIS) discloses additional
information related to implementing the Tollroad/Freeway Alternative.
The proposed highway will improve access and mobility for local
and regional travel by providing a connection between I-55 and
I-80 to serve as a principal link in a bypass route around the
Chicago metropolitan area. It will also provide a safe, efficient
and balanced transportation facility consistent with the adopted
2020 Regional Transportation Plan and the land use and
transportation plans of the project corridor local governments.
Important issues included impacts related to land use, noise,
air quality, Section 4(f), Section 6(f), Section 106 and wetland
impacts.
The document will be available for review on IDOT’s web site
until May 30, 2001.
