Illinois Department of Transportation Career Day

Career Day is a workforce development tool designed to introduce high school students to careers in the transportation industry. Through hands-on activities, exhibits and heavy equipment demonstrations, local middle and high school students get the opportunity to learn about several exciting transportation related careers.

The 4th Annual IDOT Career Day was held October 7, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Over 400 middle and high school students from 13 schools, participated in 40 indoor exhibits/activities, 25+ outdoor exhibits including 20 pieces of heavy equipment, the IDOT Helicopter and Water Shed Park.

The day was a huge success thanks to the hard work of IDOT volunteers, group guides, exhibitors, partners, students, staff and committee members who planned and participated this year.
