WHAT INFORMATION IS NEEDED?
Determine if the sign is on a controlled route on the map linked below. If yes then proceed to the Applications page, if no, then a permit is not required from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The department has created maps for each of the nine highway districts depicting the "controlled" routes with a grey line. These are special use maps and are not intended for navigation or legal purposes. Please click on the appropriate district to be re-directed to the "Getting Around Illinois" web site for the selected district and controlled routes.
