Proposed Improvements for Illinois Highways FY 2014 Introduction

The Fiscal Year 2014 Highway Improvement Program provides $2.240 billion of the $9.530 billion
included for highways in the FY 2014-2019 Proposed Multimodal Transportation Improvement Program.
In addition, included are projects totaling $103 million that use appropriations from previous
fiscal years and are scheduled to be implemented in FY 2014. As a result, the
FY 2014 Highway Improvement Program totals $2.343 billion.

The FY 2014 program is financed by an estimated $1.446 million of federal funds, $338 million of
state funds and $78 million of local funds. Nearly $1.728 billion is for projects on the state
highway system and $615 million is for projects on local streets and highway systems.

A total of 599 miles of highways and 226 bridges will be improved or constructed through the
FY 2014 program. Safety and traffic improvements at 77 locations are scheduled.
