This site will provide useful information throughout the reconstruction
process, as the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is committed to keeping
you informed with up-to-date information on the IL Route 83 project.
Project Overview
IDOT has major improvements
scheduled for over 4 miles on Illinois Route 83 from Petite Lake Road to the
Wisconsin State Line. The project will relieve the severe congestion in northern
Lake County on this stretch of roadway located in the communities of Lake Villa
and Antioch. The improvements are scheduled to begin in the Summer of 2009 and
be completed by Fall 2010.
Over 12,000 vehicles per day travel along Illinois Route 83. IDOT’s goal is
to relieve traffic congestion while providing safe and cost effective
transportation.

UPDATE—August, 2011
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is scheduled
to conclude construction in 1 to 2 weeks. The final details in
construction for Illinois Route 83 will include landscaping and
minor grading. IDOT appreciates your patience throughout the
Illinois Route 83 construction.
UPDATE—November, 2010
The Illinois Department of Transportation continues to improve
Illinois Route 83. IDOT has completed the widening process and
resurfacing has begun. The resurfacing process is a two coat
process. In addition, sewers have been installed while sidewalks
continue to be completed along the project area. The asphalting
process for homeowner driveways is in progress. |
